“The way he plays, you may swear Billy McLaughlin is two of the greatest acoustic guitarists you’ve ever heard. There is only one of him, though. It just sounds like the music of four hands.” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Billy has been playing his amazing style since the late 80’s and had a really great career going (with CD design from Mitch Rossow) until a few years ago when he started suffering from focal dystonia. This rare disease strikes people who perform complex hand movements for long periods of time, like guitarists. At the height of his career, Billy’s amazing sound was silenced, until now.

Billy has taught himself to play left-handed. He is making a triumphant return and is selling out venues, with the help of this e-commerce website and permission-based emails. Keep and eye on Billy, great things are happening…

To reflect this amazing comeback, Billy’s new website, designed and developed by Mitch, has incredible images, moving graphics, video, internal ad-style links and an advanced online store which offers combined CD sales and MP3 downloads. Take some time to explore this amazing new site.

The Venturers is a non-profit scouts-related ski group which takes highschoolers to the local ski hills and organizes longer trips to Colorado and Montana.

This site helps this large group of volunteers keep current with ever-changing information about meeting and event schedules. Before the site, they had out-of-date and conflicting brochures and schedules all over, resulting in the organizers spending lots of time on the phone and kids missing out on events.

The design of the site is based on the current snowboarding styles and the Minnesota winter. With tatoo-style typography, grunge type and a large graphic photo, the site has a strong design presence and the kids seem to like it.

This professional portfolio website promotes the work of Donna Chicone. Donna is a communications expert, TV and voice-over talent, presenter and host of her own show called “The Dog Show”. This website incorporates all her work in one portfolio and reference material in one location using:

Video

Photo Gallery

Voice-over audio commentary on many pages

Now when she makes a business contact, she can simply refer to her website regardless of the project she is working on.

This website replaces one she had before and one of the big issues with the previous site was that regardless of the content, the site just didn’t reflect her. The design of this site is warm and friendly, uses colors from her TV show and has her pictures through-out the site. She is now thrilled with the site and doesn’t hesitate to tell people about it.

Hi Mitch,
I am sending you some comments from friends about the site. Everyone really loves it and almost everyone says something about how it more clearly represents me. Here are some comments…

- Love it love it love it!

- The previous site that you sent me… it seemed like you were buried in it. This is wonderful.

- Wow! What a fabulous new website!!

- Your new web site is terrific! Mitch’s work is impressive, and I’ve got his site bookmarked for when I’m ready to have my own site.

Just a sampling of accolades for your work. Smiles,
~Donna

Lake Pointe Chiropractic offers a wide variety of services and information. This website provides clients and potential clients information about their services, forms that can be filled out at home and other health-related information.

The goals the the site are to present a large amount of information, remain current, draw traffic and keep with their calm and healthy identity. The color scheme was a big part of the design along with the animated photo collection. The navigation expands instead of “popping up” which is more relaxed and easier to follow.

This seemingly-simple website is an online portfolio for übergeek entertainment, a concert video production company. The home page is actually a showcase for the company’s most recent projects. Each element of the collage is a button that pops up either a video player or photo viewer. The design is clean, functional and very unique.

David Taylor, the owner of übergeek, lives in a 16×9 universe. High-definition video and film tell stories and convey emotions within this format. Most websites have varying heights with a constant width. This site lives in his world where objects don’t break the frame, therefore the site feels similar to film, but still makes use of web technology and complies with web standards.

“When David first explained his idea for the site, I was resistant to force his content into the unnecessarily restrictive 16×9 layout. A website can be flexible in format, allowing for more content. We talked it through and eventually came up with the idea of the image-only collage with roll-overs and pop-ups. This way, all the content was layered within the space. This also fit with his concern that viewers might not explore beyond the first page of the site, so he wanted all the main content to all fit in the small space. It was a challenge, but we worked together to find the solution.”

When I first approached Mitch, I had visions of a heavily animated flash site in mind. By the time we discussed our way through the process and what I was really after, Mitch had stripped it down to this very succinct, very well developed and rock solid expression of who übergeek is without ever bringing up the two most expensive words in web design . . . skip intro.

This portfolio site for Joe Paquet showcases his fine art paintings. The paintings are the main focus of the site and the objective of the design of the site is to emphasize them. By using an animation on the home page, visitors are treated to a variety of his work before exploring the site.

The site navigation allows for this ever-expanding site. A complete listing of numerous awards Joe has received helps search engine rankings and as all good SEO, helps collectors find this very accomplished and successful artist. Joe is an inspiring teacher and his classes and workshops rely on the site to distribute information.

Joe Paquet teaches and paints at Hurinenko and Paquet Studio in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a member of the Salmugundi Club, New York, The California Art Club and is a Signature Member of the Plein Air Painters of America. He has been featured in an October 1995 article in the Washington Post Sunday Magazine, the Spring 1999 issue of the Classical Realism Journal, the May 2002 issue of The Artist Magazine, the March 2004 issue of American Artist and received the Artists Choice Award at the 2001 Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational.
